Pearl Wayne Couch, a beloved member of his family and community, passed away on April 5, 2025, in Shelbyville, Indiana, at the age of 56. Born on July 8, 1968, in Hyden, Kentucky, Pearl was a friendly and outgoing individual who touched the lives of many during his time with us.
A proud high school graduate, Pearl dedicated much of his life to creating meaningful connections with those around him. He was known for his warmhearted nature and his eagerness to lend a hand, most notably through his volunteer work at the Salvation Army. In addition to his community service, he cherished spending quality time with his family, especially his beloved grandson, Oakley Wayne. The bond they shared was a source of immense joy for Pearl. He also found solace and companionship in the presence of his cherished dog, Lola.
Pearl is survived by his loving family, including his stepson, Benjamin Schumake of Indiana; his daughter, Kaitlyn Bray and Marcus of Big Creek, Kentucky; and his stepdaughter, Hannah Schumake and Trevor of Indiana. He is further survived by his brothers, Harold Ray Couch of Florida, Bill Roe Couch of Florida, and Joseph Petro of Indiana, and his sister, Rhonda Couch of Hyden, Kentucky and these nieces and nephews: Shadena Wagner, Kyle Couch, Mark Couch, and Alexander Couch.
Pearl was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Ray Couch and Mary Sizemore Couch, along with two sisters, Darlene Maggard and Sally Jane Couch. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his spirit will be felt in the kindness he extended throughout his life. He leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and unwavering support for his family and friends.
