Robert "Bobby" Ray Shell

Robert "Bobby" Ray Shell, a retired coal miner dedicated 40 years of hard work to Shamrock and Leeco Coal Company, peacefully passed away at his residence Hoskinston, KY. at the age of 69. Born in Hyden, KY, on June 26, 1954, Bobby was known for his intelligence, good sense of humor, and love of fishing.

Bobby's career as a coal miner was not just a job but a passion that he pursued diligently. He graduated from Leslie County High School and later earned a Bachelor's Degree from Cumberland College in Williamsburg, KY. His commitment to his work was evident to all who knew him.

Beyond his professional life, Bobby was affiliated with  Rockhouse Baptist Church and took great pride in being a lifelong resident of Leslie County, KY. He cherished spending time with his close-knit family members and had a special bond with them.

Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Faye Jones Shell, one sister Leta Bailey and her husband Bill, as well as two brothers Jim Roberts and Pete Shell. He will be dearly missed by those who survive him including his loving daughter Amber Ford and her husband Robert of Jeffersonville, IN; mother of his daughter Carol Davis of Eubank, KY; sister Donna Clark and her husband Rod of Wendover, KY; brothers Gary Shell & wife Ruth of Hoskinston, KY and Larry Shell & wife Linda of Hyden, KY.

His cherished grandchildren Austin, Miles, Landon along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends are left to carry on his memory. Bobby's legacy of hard work, dedication to family, love for fishing will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

FUNERAL SERVICES: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2024 at the Walker Funeral Home at Hyden, KY.
