Roger Asher, a cherished member of his community and beloved family man, passed away on November 22, 2024 at the Mary Breckinridge-ARH Hospital in Hyden, Kentucky. Born on January 3, 1941, in Warbranch, Roger led a life marked by dedication, hard work, and a profound commitment to those he loved.

For fifty years, he owned and operated Asher's Market, where he built lasting relationships with customers and neighbors alike. His unwavering support of his community was evident in all that he did, reflecting his belief in the importance of helping others and being a good neighbor.

Roger served honorably in the U.S. Army &  the National Guard, demonstrating his strong sense of duty and patriotism. He balanced his professional and military commitments with a passion for life that included fishing, hunting, and playing softball. An avid outdoor enthusiast, he also enjoyed riding 4-wheelers, activities that brought him joy and allowed him to connect with nature.

Family held a special place in Roger's heart. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lavonda Witek Asher. Roger was a proud father to three sons: Michael Asher (April), Shannon Asher (Brittany), and Dalton Asher & girl-friend,  (Rileigh). His legacy continues through his four grandchildren, Mikey Melton, Chris Melton, Jared Asher, and Jalynn Hoskins, as well as two great-grandchildren, Lucy Melton and Easton Melton. He is also survived by his brother, Bob Asher and his wife Brenda, and sister, Edna Sue Melton, alongside a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends who hold dear the memories they shared with him.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Bob Asher and Elizabeth Begley Asher; his first wife, Lucy; and his daughter, Amy. He also mourned the loss of four brothers—Pat, John Wayne, Bobby Dill, and George Asher—and two sisters, Scarlet Asher and Margaret Asher.

Roger Asher's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His genuine kindness, community spirit, and devotion to family will forever be remembered and celebrated by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Funeral: Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at the New Hope Community Church at Warbranch Kentucky

Ministers: Denver Brock, Ralph Brown and Tim Finley

*Full Military Rites will be performed by the Leslie Co. DAV Chapter #133*

Interment: Brock Cemetery, Warbranch Kentucky

Pallbearers: Dalton Asher, Shannon Asher, Michael Asher, Jared Asher, Chris Melton, Mikey Melton, Robbie Witek and Dakota Witek

Visitation: Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at 6:00 P.M. at the New Hope Community Church, Warbranch Kentucky
