Rosalee Bowling, formerly known as Rosalee Hoskins, was born on March 26, 1937, in Stinnett, Kentucky. She peacefully passed away on October 30, 2024 at Well's Hospice Center in Hazard, Kentucky, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and creativity.
Rosalee dedicated 25 years of her life to serving as U.S. Postal, working diligently at the Wendover and Hyden Post Offices. A devoted member of her community, she began her spiritual journey at the Stinnett Gap Church of God during her younger years and later became an active member of the Hyden Church of God, where she served as clerk for numerous years. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her through various challenges and shaping her thoughtful and nurturing nature.
Throughout her life, Rosalee was not only a pillar of support for her family but also a gifted poet and songwriter. She wrote poems for the Leslie County News and composed religious songs that touched many hearts. Her creativity extended beyond her written works, as she was a talented seamstress who lovingly made suits that children wore to their proms, showcasing her caring spirit and dedication to making special moments more memorable for those around her.
Rosalee is survived by her four sons, Ronnie Bowling, Michael Bowling, Tommy Bowling, and Joey Bowling; one daughter, Frances Bowling Fields; two brothers, John Henry Hoskins and Lee Otis Hoskins (Lorraine); six sisters, Eva Morgan, Betty Lou Morgan, Thelma Jean Hacker, Shirley Feltner, Florence Hoskins, and Judy Carol Hoskins; seven grandchildren, Tasha Marie, Scotty, Bryan, Becky, Christopher, Ashley, and Elliot; six great-grandchildren, Emma, Aleeah Rose, John Tyler, Willow Grace Theodore, and Archer; one step-granddaughter, Julie Coates; four step-great-granddaughters, Jeanna, Darby, Sydney, and Chelsea; three step-great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen Hoskins and Sudie Howard Hoskins; her husband, Elmer Bowling; one daughter, Deborah Bowling; two brothers, Gilford Hoskins and Phillip Joe Hoskins; her son-in-law, Paul Fields; and her father and mother-in-law, Boone and Boda Bowling.
Rosalee Bowling's unwavering spirit, compassion for others, and deep faith have left an indelible mark on the lives of all who knew her. Her memory will forever be cherished by her family and friends.
