Sherman Woods

Mr. Sherman Woods of Hazard, KY. (formerly of Leslie Co.) passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at the Wells Hospice Center in Hazard, KY. at the age of 88. Sherman was born February 23, 1931 in Hyden, KY., the son of the late, Ruck Woods & Bertha Jones Woods. He had been a life-long resident of Leslie Co. Sherman was a veteran having served honorably in the U.S. Army. By occupation he had worked in the maintenance dept. at the Mary Breckinridge Hospital. Sherman was a member of the Thousandsticks United Methodist Church at Thousandsticks, KY. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting & playing pool.

Sherman was preceded in death by his loving parents, one beloved son, Michael Woods, three sisters, Daisy Fee, Zubie Begley & Helen Mullins & two brothers, Richard & Robert Woods. He leaves the following relatives surviving; one beloved son, Walter "Bud" Woods (Patti) of Tekonsha, MI., beloved daughters, Barbara Marshall (Alfred) of Tekonsha, MI.,  Mary Davis of Bronson, MI, Joanie Farler & Tammy Morgan whom he thought of as daughters, one brother, Daniel "Boot Hill" Woods of Hyden, KY., six treasured grandchildren, Shannon Woods (Marcy), Sherman Woods, Courtney Banker, Stacey Phelps & Alfred Marshall, Jr., Nicollette Davis & a host of treasured great grandchildren, nieces, nephews & cousins.

Services:

Funeral: Sunday, January 19, 2020 at 3:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, KY.

Minister: Rev. Robert Amundsen

Visitation: Sunday, January 19th at 1:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home Chapel

Interment Service: Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery South East, Hyden, KY.

Pallbearers: Shannon Woods, Trayten Woods, Eddie Fee, James Fee, John Fee, Kevin Woods and Sherman Micheal Woods.

**Military Rites will be performed by the Leslie Co. DAV Chapter#133**
