Mrs. Susie L. Hensley was born November 7, 1932 and departed this life on Friday, September 30, 2022 at her residence at the age of 89. Susie was born at Cutshin, Ky., the daughter of the late Bige Lewis and Katy Joseph Lewis. Susie was a retired bookkeeper for the LKLP program and the Leslie Co. Health Dept. She was a devoted member of the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ at Smilax, Ky. since 1976. Susie enjoyed gardening, flower gardening, cooking and quilting. Susie's greatest joy came from spending time with her family and her work at the church. She prioritized her duties at the church and gave them the utmost consideration and importance. Susie served as church secretary for over 40 years. She was a life-long resident of Leslie Co. Mrs. Susie L. Hensley was preceded in death by her parents, Bige and Katy Joseph Lewis; her loving and devoted husband, Arthur Hensley to whom she was united in marriage on September 2, 1949; four brothers, Everett C. Lewis, John L. Lewis, Paul Lewis, Harold Lewis; and two sisters, Hosea Collett and Mabel Combs. Mrs. Susie L. Hensley leaves the following relatives surviving: three cherished sons, Eugene Hensley, Jr. and Linda of Manchester, Ky., Ricky Hensley of Smilax, Ky., Terry Hensley and Helen of Smilax, Ky.; beloved brother, Rev. Billy Joe Lewis, Smilax, Ky.; treasured grandchildren, Terry Hensley, Jr. & Becky, Dr. Billy Joe Hensley, Rick Hensley and Katie, Breanne Cornett and Ryan, Kyle B. Hensley, Dustin R. Hensley, Tyler Hensley; treasured great grandchildren, Katy L. Hensley, Ellie Hensley, Lydia Cornett, Abigail Cornett, Isabella Hensley and a host of other relatives and friends.
