Mr. T. J. Asher, 91, of Keavy, passed away Tuesday morning, April 9, 2019 at his home. He was the son of the late Joe and Dora Sizemore Asher born on July 17, 1927 at Arjay.
T. J. was a former house mover and a member of the Jack’s Creek United Methodist Church. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and was a former member of the Oleika 74’s. He also enjoyed rebuilding cars and spending time with his grandchildren.
In 1945, he united in marriage with Edith Roark and to this union two children were born.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Dora Ruth Proffitt; 13 brothers and sisters and a granddaughter, Edith Henson.
Survivors include his loving wife, Edith R. Asher of Keavy; a son, Leonard Joe Asher and wife, Norma, of Harlan; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted at the Jack’s Creek United Methodist Church in Leslie County Saturday, April 13 at 2 P.M. with the Rev. Jim Savage officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Roark Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be family and friends.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday between 6 and 9 P.M. and at the Jack’s Creek United Methodist Church Saturday after 12 noon until the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
