Vanda Rice

Vanda Johnson Rice of Wooton, Ky was born February 4, 1936 and departed this life on Friday, October 11, 2019 at the Well's Hospice Center at the age of 83. Vanda was born at Hyden, Ky., the daughter of the late Orville Johnson and the late Polly Jane Wells Johnson She was preceded in death by her husband, Kelly Rice. Vanda was a former employee of the Lexington Clinic and the Hyden Manor nursing home. She was a faithful member of the Smilax Church of Christ and had been a  resident of Leslie county since 1974. Vanda enjoyed cooking, canning, sitting on her porch, but she especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and her other treasured relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Kelly Rice, her parents: Orville and Polly Jane Wells Johnson , one brother: Gilford and one sister: Louise Wooton., two brothers -in- law, Earl Wooton & Vernon Melton. She leaves 3 beloved daughters surviving, Evanna Lein Rice Turner and husband, Harold, of Smilax, KY, Deanna Rice Adams and husband, Lonnie of Wooton, KY. & Lisa Rice Stamper and husband, Lynn of Wooton, KY, one brother: Lee Jr. Johnson , and Geneva of Waco, KY, one sister, Betty Jean Melton of Tennessee, one brother-in-law, Miller Rice and wife,  Mary Ann of Hyden, Ky.,  six treasured grandchildren; Harold Douglas Turner & Judy, Jonathan Kelly Turner & Nikki, Shawn Alan Turner & Mallary, Kevin Lynn Stamper, Jennifer Brittany Caldwell & Steven, Byron Cody Adams & Kayla, eight treasured, great grandchildren, Brianna, Isabella, Hunter, Nathan, Jennarae, Colton, Laken & Noah &  a host of nieces, nephews, other family members & friends. FUNERAL SERVICES: 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2019 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home in Hyden, KY.

VISITATION: 6:00 p.m.- Monday- Oct. 14, 2019 at the funeral home chapel.
