Venita Carol Morgan Caldwell, a devoted educator and beloved member of the Hyden community, passed away on June 10, 2024 Venita was born on August 29, 1953, in Hyden, KY, She was the daughter of the late Brophy Morgan & Ellen Coots. Venita dedicated her life to teaching and impacting the lives of those around her.
Venita's passion for education was evident throughout her accomplished career. She began her distinguished career in education teaching at both W.B. Muncy and Hayes Lewis Elementary, where she spent 17 years shaping young minds. Additionally, she taught night classes and was a faculty member at Hazard Community College for an impressive 40 years. Venita's genuine care for her students as individuals set her apart and earned her the admiration of all who knew her.
Outside of her professional life, Venita was known for her kind and welcoming personality. She had a talent for engaging others through captivating conversations and storytelling that left a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know her. Her love for her family and students was unmatched, and she took pride in being actively involved in their lives.
Venita's educational journey included earning a BA from Eastern Kentucky University and a master's degree from Cumberland College, further showcasing her dedication to learning and growth.
In addition to her successful career in education, Venita found joy in hobbies such as traveling and reading. Her affiliation with the KY Board of Humanities allowed her to represent the state she loved dearly. Venita's deep-rooted connection to eastern Kentucky was apparent in all aspects of her life.
Venita will be deeply missed by her surviving family members: Doug Caldwell, her loving husband of over three decades; her cherished son, Ben Caldwell and Brooke, Brent Doty and Shelly, Brandon Doty and Laura, her beloved nephews; Irene Boggs, whom she considered a sister of choice; as well as special friend Germaine Schaffer.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents Brophy Morgan & Ellen Coots Morgan and beloved, sister Betty Sybil Doty.
A funeral service to celebrate Venita's life will be held at 1:00 P.M. - Friday - June 14, 2024, at Walker Funeral Homes in Hyden, KY. with Donnie Melton, Danny Day, Dwight Lewis, Kim Howard Padgett and James G. Caudill officiating. Friends may call for visitation from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2024 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, KY. The following will serve as pallbearers: Doug Caldwell, Ben Caldwell, Brent Doty, Calden Doty, Glen Caldwell and Clay Caldwell
Venita Carol Morgan Caldwell will be remembered not only for her contributions to education but also for the kindness and warmth she shared with everyone she encountered. She would want to be remembered as a mother, wife and educator. Venita provided her unwavering support to Doug's ministry and Ben's academic endeavors and successful professional career. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who were touched by her unwavering dedication to improving the lives of others.

Caudill officiating. Friends may call visitation from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Thursday - June 13, 2024 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home. The interment will follow in the Hurricane Cemetery located at Hyden, KY. The following will serve as pallbearers: Doug Caldwell, Ben Caldwell, Brent Doty, Glen Caldwell, Calden Doty and Clay Caldwell
