Wilma Jean Couch

Wilma Jean Couch, a beloved figure in the community of Hyden, Kentucky, passed away at Lake Cumberland Medical Center in Somerset, KY. at the age of 72.   She was born on March 11, 1952, in Hyden, KY., the daughter of the late Jim Jones & Martha Gibson,where she spent her fulfilling life creating lasting memories and touching the hearts of many.

Wilma's career was marked by dedication and passion. With a background at the Appalachia Motel and the Hair & Tanning Palace in Hyden, KY, she made a significant impact through her exceptional cooking skills, talent as a beautician, and creativity as a florist. Her clients were not just clients but individuals with whom she built personal relationships. Wilma's warmth and outgoing personality shone through in every interaction, making her a cherished member of the community. Wilma was a member of the Couch's Fork Church of God, Bear Branch, KY., where she had attended since her youth.

Aside from her professional accomplishments, Wilma excelled in her role as a mother and grandmother. Being involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren brought her immense joy. Her family meant everything to her, and she found great pleasure in preparing delicious meals for them.

In addition to her successful career and loving family life, Wilma was known for her artistic flair and creativity. Whether it was crafting, flower arranging, interior decorating, or tending to her gardens, she found solace and joy in these activities. Her talent extended to playing the piano and mastering the art of cooking.

Wilma Jean Couch was preceded in death by her parents: Jim Jones and Martha Gibson, cherished brother, Robert Lee Jones, half-brothers, Pleasie "Fruit Pole" Jones, Coon "Digger" Jones, Bobby Jones, Lester Couch, Johnny Couch, Ray Lee Couch, Jimmy Darrell Couch, Lester "Fat Daddy" Couch, half-sisters, Louise Couch, Lois Feltner Begley, Wanda Feltner Campbell, Laura Collett, Mauda Woods, Bert Jones & nephew, Eugene Burns.

Wilma Jean Couch will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She is survived by her loving husband Paul Couch of Bear Branch, KY., her cherished children Archie Collins & wife Teri of London, KY., Jerry Barger & wife Darla of London, KY., Jamie Barger & wife Pat of Bear Branch, KY.,  Ramon Couch & wife Angel of Baltimore Maryland, John Jones  & C.B. Jones, Ruby Ann Bowling & husband Curtis Leon Bowling of Bear Branch, KY., Paul Couch & wife Tina of Richmond, KY.,  treasured grandchildren Jordan Collins, Peyton Collins, Samantha Barger, Justin Barger, Alex Barger, Curtis Spears, Cameron Couch, Bridget Sizemore, Mackenzie Gibson, Allie Jones; treasured great-grandchildren Samantha Wilcoxson, Paul Couch, Chris Couch, Brantley Couch, Lukas Kash Barger, Paisleigh Collins, Kendal Sizemore, Kaden Sizemore, Kayleigh Sizemore, Ryder Gibson, Adalee Gibson, Allie Jones, Autumn Jones, Ares Fuller, Atlas Fuller,  treasured, great-great, grandchildren, Xavier Philpot, Karmyn Couch & Josie May Couch,

Her memory will also be cherished by half-sister Bertha Gay of London KY., cousin and lifelong best friend Sylvania Brock whom she loved dearly as a sister; along with her beloved dog JoJo.

Friends may call for visitation for Wilma Jean Couch beginning Thursday - March 21st - at 6:00 P.M.. continuing  Friday, March 22, 2024 followed by the funeral service on  Saturday -March 23rd  1:00 PM all at the Couch's Fork Church of God, Bear Branch, KY., with Ryan Osborne, John Romer, Russell Jimenez  & Joey Burns officiating. The interment will follow the funeral service at the Robert Lee Jones Cemetery (Ulysses Creek Rd.) Bear Branch, KY The following will serve as pallbearers, Justin Barger, Jordan Collins, Ramon Couch, Robert Lee Jones II, Peyton Collins, Archie Collins, Jamie Barger & Dana Fuller. Honorary pallbearer, Paul Michael Couch.
